Airport Opens Free Cell Phone Waiting Lot

Motorists picking up passengers from the Dane County Regional Airport can now wait in a convenient new Cell Phone Waiting Lot until their passenger calls for pick-up.

National Guard - 115th Fighter Wing

The 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard is based at Truax Field on Dane County Regional Airport's east side. The Wing flies F-16 fighter aircraft, employs 421 people on a full-time basis with over 1,100 military members, and operates from two dozen buildings on the airport grounds. The Wing also operates an RC-26 reconnaissance aircraft that provides extremely valuable support to civil authorities.

The 115th Fighter Wing also provides all Crash Fire Rescue service for all of Dane County Regional Airport - military and civilian. This unique arrangement provides top notch, cost-effective service by avoiding duplication of effort.

Army National Guard
147th Command Aviation Battalion

This unit is, likewise, stationed at Truax Field on the Madison Airport.

Members of the 1st Battalion/147th Aviation Regiment, a Wisconsin National Guard unit from Madison, has 14 UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and about 250 members in Wisconsin.
